Sisters, Ivana and Jessica Nwokike make up the exciting duo, VanJess. Though born in The United States, the sisters spent a large portion of their childhood living in Nigeria before moving to California for their teenage years. VanJess started their music career similar to many other artists of this generation, performing covers on YouTube. After attracting many viewers, in 2018, they signed to RCA's Keep Cool, whose roster also includes acts like Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, UMI, and Lucky Daye.
Later that same year, they released their debut project, Silk Canva featuring Masego, GoldLink, Little Simz, and more. They would go on to release a remixed version of the song, “Cool Off the Rain” in 2019 with Ari Lennox. They would also collaborate with producer, Kaytranada twice in 2019, on “Dysfunctional” and “Taste.”
VanJess returned in September 2020 with “Come Over,” likely to be the lead single off their upcoming sophomore project, followed by “High and Dry” in October and “Groove Thang” and “Slow Down” in November.
