Quadry
Quadry Winters, or more simply, Quadry came to light to many in 2018 when A&R executive Brock Korsan, known largely for his work with Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q, announced that he added Baton Rouge rapper, Quadry to the roster of artists at Sunset Beach Recordings, a subset of Warner Music. Korsan had also managed producers like Cardo and DJ Dahi. The Baton Rouge rapper lists his influences as artists like André 3000, Gil Scott-Heron, the Fugees, Frank Ocean, Radiohead, Webbie, and Lil Wayne. In 2018, he released his debut album, Malik Ruff. The album is highlighted by tracks like “Bluegrass,” “Louis,” and “Bible in the Water” and features production from BROCKHAMPTON’s Romil Hemnani, The Internet’s Steve Lacy, DJ Dahi, and more. Though the album received praise from many outlets, Quadry was dropped from the label after its release.
Not to be discouraged, in 2019, Quadry released, Emergency Raps, Vol. 5 along with Tuamie, and in 2020, he released Don’t You Weep with Jansport J. In 2021, Quadry kicked off the year with the release of the single, “Same Shit, Different Day” featuring Caleb Brown and Joe Scott. In February, Quadry released “I Can’t Throw No Stones” featuring Grip and Tommy Rogue. The latter would be the first single on his album, They Think We Ghetto, which released in July 2021. Quadry shines brightest on the album’s opener, “4 My…. & We Were.”
Quadry returned in October 2022 with the single, “Cardinal” featuring Topaz Jones. Continuing to drop a few singles over the next two years, Quadry dropped the project, Ask a Magnolia in September 2024. The project included collaborations with Wakai, BLK ODYSSY, Latrell James, Teo Halm, Buddy, Ovrkast., Thelonious Martin, Merlyn Wood, and more. Be sure to check out the tracks, “Can You Blame Me?,” “Frmdacornerofmyeye,” and “N***a You Crazy” featuring Buddy, a few of the standouts from the project.
