Grip
With placements like Madden 20 (“100YD Dash”) and HBO's Euphoria (“911 [Clap For Em]”), Grip aka Kyle Clow sounds like he would be one of the more well-known rappers out of Atlanta. Grip released his first project, Porch in 2017 while still working a 9-5 job. In 2019, he released his album, Snubnose at age 30. The album sees high points on “He Is ... I Am," "Finessin’” featuring Mick Jenkins, “Bishop Speaks ... Matter” featuring ICECOLDBISHOP and Ahyes, and “Open Arms” featuring Grandmaster Vic.
The album broadened his audience and had him set to open for Brent Faiyaz's FTW Tour in 2020. However, the tour would be canceled due to COVID-19. In place of the tour, Grip gave his fans a new EP, Halo in the spring of 2020. With a fast turnaround, Grip released PROBOSCIDEA exclusively on Bandcamp in September of 2020. The 6-track project with an interesting array of instrumentation is highlighted by “GRIP,” “LET EM KNOW,” and “GRIP 3:16” featuring Kenny Mason and J.I.D. He would later add the project to most other streaming services. In the last week of 2020, Grip released 4 loosies on SoundCloud, YouTube, and Audiomack, one featuring Kenny Mason.
In June 2021, Grip released the song, “Gutter” featuring Wara. The song marked Grip’s first release through Shady Records, a partnership that he announced days prior by posting a picture with Eminem on his social media accoutns.
