Imani Nichele

Imani Nichele is a rapper from Detroit, MI, now based in Chicago, IL. Being a fan of poetry early in life, Imani naturally transitioned to music as she “started craving different mediums to let [her] thoughts exist inside of.” She officially began recording music at the age of 18. Her biggest musical influences span alternative bands, alternative rappers, and underground rappers, including Isaiah Rashad, Daughter, Rome Streetz, Quelle Chris, and American Football. Today, Imani Nichele describes her sound as “deeply rooted in traditional underground hip-hop with alternative influences remaining present — heavy lyricism and melodies that carry [her] words.”
Imani Nichele’s first project, Wellness Check - EP was released in 2022. The biggest must-listen from the 4-track project is the track, “TonyHawk.” The following year, the MC released a 3-track single, Bleat, highlighted by the first track of the same name. In May 2024, Imani returned with Dramaqueen. - EP. Sticking with the theme of short projects, the 4-track EP sees its height on track 2, “Dramaqueen.” Though her discography is limited at this point in time, Imani has made the most of her releases, showing off her lyrical prowess, impressive beat selections, and most importantly, ability to make you bob your head while listening to her music.
