Baby Keem
Even if you are not yet familiar with the name Baby Keem, you have definitely, heard songs that he has worked on. Las Vegas' Baby Keem aka Hykeem Carter has production credits on songs such as Jay Rock’s “Rotation 112th” and “Knock It Off” as well as ScHoolboy Q’s “Numb Numb Juice” and “Lies.” Perhaps his most significant production credits come on Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar's "NILE," featured on The Lion King: The Gift, and Zacari’s “Redemption Interlude,” from Black Panther: The Album (Music from and Inspired By).
As a solo artist, Baby Keem is known for his short (usually only around 2 minutes in length), energetic songs. Keem dropped his first set of EPs in 2018 at age 17: Midnight, No Name, Hearts & Darts, and The Sound of Bad Habit. The projects are highlighted by "Half," “Wolves,” and “Gang Activities.” The music video for “Gang Activites” would be produced by Shia LaBeouf. The production on the EPs is handled mainly by Baby Keem himself and diamond-certified producer, Cardo, who has produced for artists such as Drake, Travis Scott, Mac Miller, and BEAM. Keem’s many TDE collaborations are likely due to his affiliation with Cardo and his manager, Warner SVP of A&R Brock Korsan. Korsan appears to be part of Keem’s management team as well and is widely known for his work with ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar.
In July 2019, Baby Keem released his standout project, DIE FOR MY BITCH. The project features more production from Keem and Cardo as well as other contemporary elite producers like Sounwave, DJ Dahi, Kal Banx, and Bēkon. Notable tracks on the project include club bangers, "ORANGE SODA" and "MOSHPIT," along with the more versatile songs, "MY EX" and "BULLIES." In 2020, Keem starred in the introductory video to Kendrick Lamar and former TDE co-president, Dave Free's new creative brand, pgLang.
In August, Keem was revealed to be part of the XXL Freshman Class of 2020. Though opting out of the cyphers, he did do an XXL freestyle. He returned in September with a 2-pack - “Hooligan” and “Sons and Critics Freestyle.”
