Ozer
Ozer aka Samuel Owens is a rapper from San Francisco, CA. Around the age of 6 years old, Ozer became fascinated with Lil Bow Wow, and from this point forward, he dreamed of doing music and started writing. During the blog era of hip-hop, Ozer picked up more influences in J. Cole, Nipsey Hussle, Kendrick Lamar, and Childish Gambino who helped pushed him to start taking things seriously around the age of 16. Then, at the age of 18, he released his first record and knew that he was meant to have a career in hip-hop. Today, Ozer continues to be inspired by the next generation of artists including Rexx Life Raj, Larry June, Lute, and Caleborate.
Ozer describes his sound as “laid back and chill.” He mentions always trying to grow as an artist, but at the same time, working to stay true to what originally drew fans to his sound. That being said, he works to create sounds by blending the new with the old. In 2018, Ozer graduated with a marketing degree. He has used the skills and knowledge he gained through his education and applied them to his music career. These skills started to pay off with the release of his 2020 breakout song, “Blow My High” with Sussy. The song would garner millions of listens across streaming services and other platforms. This would go on to be the first single off the 2021, Lost In Translation, a project filled with raps over live instrumentation, especially the saxophone. Other standouts from the project include “All Falls Down” featuring Lex Culture, “Addiction” featuring Xiomar, and “Coming Or Going” featuring EaSWay.
Ozer has a big year ahead in 2022. He has been locked in the studio lately, crafting and working to evolve his sound. In May, Ozer released the song, “Paradise,” with beach vibes just in time for the summer. We hope he won’t make us wait too much longer for the next project.
