Gio Genesis
Gio Genesis aka Giovany Brice is a singer and rapper from New Windsor, NY. He lists his biggest influences as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, and Stevie Wonder. Though he’s been big into music from a young age, he began to start writing music at the age of 17, during his senior year of high school in 2016. When Gio wrote his first rap, he rapped it for his baseball team before one of their games. After the team won the game, his coach requested that he rap before every game. After this, he figured he would need more songs to rap and decided to keep writing more songs. He hasn’t stopped since then. He describes his sound as “a distinct vocal presence with infectious melodies and harmonies. A nostalgic sound with a conscientious take on the future.”
Just two years later, Gio Genesis would release his first project, Thank You, Have a Nice Day. From this point, Gio would continue to regularly release music, on to his second project, The Longest Summer - EP with standout track, “845 Freestyle.” While we still wait for Gio Genesis to release his debut album, other standout tracks include “Wither (Remix)” and “New Genesis Freestyle,” as well as Gio’s feature on redveil’s “5500.”
In 2022, Gio Genesis released a handful of singles, most notably “Wasting Away” and “H2O (interlude).” He also jumped on Kiran The Nomad’s “Can’t Breathe!” along with Morgan Gold. In 2023, Gio dropped what might be his best track to date. He released “Too Far” in August 2023, produced by Bijan Amir (Al-Doms, Antslive, SwaVay, Aminé, Offset). According to Lyrical Lemonade, the song was originally made to be featured in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.
